Cal/OSHA Training Certification

TRAINING MODE: e-Learning

This course covers all aspects of the State of California regulations for cotton dust exposure, which includes health impacts to workers; various possibilities of exposure and work practice; and administrative and engineering controls such as respirators to reduce the exposure to permissible limit. The online course also deals with medical evaluations, emergency actions and follow-up details in case of cotton dust exposure in the workplaces.

Governing regulations

This training program has been formulated as per the regulations laid down by Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR, Section 5190 Cotton Dust Safety Standard.

Course Overview

Cotton dust is an odorless and colorless substance that commonly occurs when workers deal with large amount of raw and partially treated cotton. Unprotected workers who are exposed to large amount of cotton dust are at risk of getting various lung ailments which include byssinosis, a disabling lung disease also known as “brown lung”. With proper preventive measures and awareness on its health impacts, cotton dust exposure can be contained to a large extent. Companies following standard safety protocols can able to provide congenial, safe and risk-free environment for workers who are exposed to large quantity of cotton dust daily. This course is specially made to address the importance following California safety standards regarding cotton dust inhalation.

Who Must Take this Course?

All the workplaces which come under the scope of Section 5190(a) where workers are exposed to large amount of cotton dust should be trained as per the regulations to deal with the cotton dust effectively by following various safe practices and safety standards.
