What are the different classes of fire extinguisher & its chemical usage?
- Class A: For combustible materials like wood, paper, cloth. Uses water or foam.
- Class B: For flammable liquids (gasoline, oil). Uses foam, dry chemicals, or CO2.
- Class C: For electrical fires. Uses non-conductive agents like dry chemicals or CO2.

What is the maximum pressure of fire extinguisher?
The CO2 extinguishers are generally pressurized to a higher level than water or dry chemical extinguishers. Typically, the ABC-rated dry chemical fire extinguisher is pressurized to around 185 to 195 PSI and the CO2 extinguisher is pressurized to about 2000 PSI.
Is it dangerous to drop a fire extinguisher?
Dropping a fire extinguisher can be hazardous as it may damage the pressurized container, affecting its functionality. If you accidentally drop the extinguisher, ensure it is placed in a safe area and seek professional assistance to inspect and address any potential damage promptly.
What are the signs indicating that a fire extinguisher may be unsafe for use?
While using a fire extinguisher, ensure that the pressure indicator points to the green zone between the two different red zones. If you notice that the indicator is in either of the red zones, it should not be used. The fire extinguisher needs to be serviced as soon as possible.
