International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons – 26 September

The United Nations provides a day for International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, this day is meant for “the world community to reaffirm its commitment to global nuclear disarmament as a high priority”. The global nuclear disarmament is an oldest goal of the UN, which was one of the subject of the 1st resolution in General Assembly in 1946.

Still today around 145000 nuclear weapon remains. The countries which have nuclear weapons are well funded, and has long term plans in order to modernize the nuclear arsenals. Half of the world’s population lives in the countries, which have nuclear weapon or members of nuclear alliances. There is major reduction in deployed of nuclear weapons, as of 2018 because of the heights of cold war.

This day gives an opportunity to provide information to public about their leaders and the benefits of avoiding the nuclear weapons.
