Every year April 28th is being celebrated as World Day for Safety and Health at Work across the globe to promote the prevention of workplace accident and diseases. this is an awareness raising campaign with intention to create safe and healthy work culture that reduces workplace deaths and injuries.

International Labor Organization (ILO) started to observe this day since 2003 to stress the minimization of accidents and diseases at workplace and capitalize on ILO’s tripartism and social dialogue. This day is also celebrated as International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers Day by trade union moment. This event is among the integral part of Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health of ILO. This day is a significant tool to create awareness among public and workers on how to create work culture safe and healthy and the necessity to rise political profile of health and safety

Each and every one of us has the responsibility to prevent injuries and death on job. As the Government has provides standard laws and regulations, it is important to make sure that the organization work in adherence with it. It’s the immense duty of the employer to provide positive and safe working environment. And the workers should protect themselves, know their rights and implement preventive measures.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made every human being to face lot of challenges that hit on the world of work. This World Day for Safety and Health at Work strengths occupational health and safety system to create resilience in order to handle crises in future, figuring out the experience gained from work .
